The best 'home from home' for any dog
Having only rescued our beautiful 1 year old (ish) German Shepherd about 3 months ago, we were somewhat worried about leaving her anywhere for a long weekend. She's a lovely dog and has quickly turned our house into a home. Our dog trainer (or should that be human trainer?) recommended we speak to Angie who gave us the last space and got on with her instantly. With her excellent knowledge of German Shepherds she managed to devise a diet that sorted out our girls somewhat iffy bowels and when we came to collect her she was in excellent form. Angie had obviously spent time training her and looking after her as she is even better behaved than before and obviously had a great time at the retreat - I'll never worry about having to leave her again as I think she probably had as good a holiday as we did! I highly recommend Tallpines and am delighted we found such an excellent holiday resort for the dog!

Here at Tallpines we have 3 purpose built kennel blocks,
1) for the larger breed of dog, or family unit
2) for the smaller more delicate breeds
3) Rehoming and residential training
  • All our kennels have there own outside runs where your dog can come and go as he /she pleases.
  • All our guests are able to see one another but can not get to each other, their sleeping areas allow them their own space as and when they want it.
  • Each kennel block has an internal heater and cooler.  Overhead within the individual sleeping quarters heat lamps  / fans can be switched on separately if extra warmth  / coolness is required.
  • During the day there is music playing in the background within each kennel block
  • Tranquilled coloured night lights are switched on during the night once the dogs are put to bed, for comfort and soothing light

  • For those guests that feel stressed or are shy, we will sit in with them (after you have left) and allow them to approach us in their own time, we have found that this helps with the bonding process.
  • All dogs are walked / allowed to run a minimum of twice a day within our 2acre secure fenced field, for those who enjoy a good dig and run through the woods, we have an acre of secure woodland that the dogs can play in with no worries of escaping or hurting themselves.
  • Individual play time is given to all our guests either within their outside runs, fenced field, or outside grassed exercise area
  • At bed time each dog is given a “kong” filled with treats

All guests must have an up to date vaccination certificate. This must be produced the first time your pet stays in with us. We also ask that all dogs are given the kennel cough vaccination spray at least 10 days before they are boarded; this is a precautionary measure to protect our kennels and boarders from infection.
(NO PET WILL BE BOARDED UNLESS A CURRENT CERTIFICATE OF VACCINATION IS SEEN ON ARRIVAL).
Please remember that these need to be boosted annually
  • A brief medical history will be taken at time of registration to help us during the daily monitoring of your pets health
  • Individual feeding likes and dislikes are all taken into account based on information given by the owners on arrival. (We do ask those on prescription diets to bring their own.)
We like our guests to feel as at home as possible here at Tallpines Pet Retreat so if they wish to pack their own favourite toy or blanket or even their own grooming tools, they are most welcome!
